Lug Nuts are very very short stories I wrote mostly in the early 1990s. I self-published a book of them in 1992 using a photocopier and that color you see in the photos is "sepia," which is representative of the times.
I sold 5 copies at $1 each by putting them on consignment sale at places like the St. Marks Bookstore. "Sure kid, you can put 'em there, but we throwem' out after a month. You could call them flash fiction or sudden fiction, but that would be using a term that came along after I made my huge $5 splash in the indie-publishing market. I later put four of them on GoCards, the advertisement you find in public urinals. It was a huge success and they were later put into the windows at Bergdorff as an example of the craziness of New York, and led me to meeting a French actress who had me help her write a play that featured a penis garden. Really. It was my idea.
